The ACM / IEEE International Symposium on Empirical Software Engineering and Measurement (ESEM) is the premier conference to present research results related to empirical software engineering. The ESEM2013 conference was held on October 10-11, 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Two full research papers from mainland China were accepted by ESEM 2013, both from the laboratory for internet software technologies(iTechs). Ph.d. student Zhimin He participated in the conference and gave two lectures entitled ˇ°Learning from open source project: an empirical study on defect predictionˇ± and ˇ°DevNet: Exploring developer collaboration in heterogeneous networks of bug repositoryˇ±, respectively.
ESEM2013 was supported by IEEE computer society, ACM sigsoft, Microsoft research and other top academic institutions and industry organizations. There were many academic and industrial people attracted to this conference. ESEM2013 provided a stimulating forum where researchers and practitioners can present and discuss recent research results on a wide range of topics, in addition to also exchanging ideas, experiences and challenging problems. The 2013 symposium particularly emphasized expanding and enhancing the dialogue between practitioners and researchers.
The ESEM2013 conference is a good chance for iTechs to show its on-going research work. Participating in this conference helped a lot to better understand the state-of-the-art in the empirical software field, which also means a lot for the future development of iTechs.
